Exceptional, longtime Flagstaff luthier has generously provided a custom-built to be raffled as part of a fundraiser to help with medical expenses for his long-time friend and musical partner Tony Norris. The guitar features a 14-fret medium-sized body (000), with spruce top and Arizona mesquite back and sides, which is quite unusual. Bill describes mesquite as possessing tonal characteristics similar to highly-valuable Brazilian rosewood, which has not been commercially available since the early 1990s. This guitar is a fabulous fingerpicker, and also holds up very well to flatpicking. It is valued at $3000.
There will be a silent auction happening for the guitar during the weekend of Sept. 15-17 at Pickin’ in the Pines. Visit the Pickin’ in the Pines raffle booth to place a bid for the guitar throughout the weekend.
Tony Norris has been struggling with Myasthenia Gravis for six years. He is housebound and unable to work. Decades of being a performing musician have not filled his Social Security coffers and Tony is in need of our help in order to stay in his home, cover basic expenses, and receive the vital care he requires that are not covered services.
