Details & Itinerary: Join MNA songwriting residency musicians, Chris Brashear and Peter McLaughlin, for a truly unique musical river experience. The scenic San Juan River provides the perfect combination of relaxing water along with several class II rapids for some excitement. During the day, float through the magnificent Comb Ridge Anticline, visit petroglyphs and ancient dwellings while watching for desert bighorn sheep in the canyons. Spend the evenings beneath the stars enjoying music by two premiere western songwriters while reflecting on the day’s journey.
We will meet at the Museum of Northern Arizona on Monday, Sept. 10 at 12:00 pm for a brief trip orientation, departing by 1:00 for Bluff, Utah. The first night we will be camping alongside the river. Dinner and hotel lodging in Bluff is available at an additional charge. We begin our river adventure on Tuesday morning early, returning to MNA by 5:00 pm on Thursday, Sept. 13.
What to Expect: We will be traveling in a 12 passenger van, our trip beginning and ending in Flagstaff. Elevation on the San Juan River is about 4000 feet. Participants should be comfortable riding in a boat for much of each day along with some hiking. You will be asked to provide your health history and information at the time of registration. Cost Includes:
- Meals from breakfast on Tuesday, Sept.11 through lunch on Thurs., Sept. 13
- Transportation to and from MNA to Bluff, Utah.
- All permits, guides, boats, river equipment and waterproof bags.
Cancellations must be received in writing by mail, fax, or email. If notice of cancellation is received before 30 days prior to departure, trip fees will be refunded less a $200.00 administrative fee. For one day trips, the administrative fee is $50.00. If cancellation notice is received after 30 days prior to departure, no refunds will be issued. If the Museum cancels a trip due to inclement weather or insufficient enrollment, a full refund including the deposit will be issued. MNA is not responsible for airline cancellation penalties in the event of cancellation for any reason. This policy is followed per person without exception. We highly recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance.
