Details & Itinerary:
Join MNA songwriting residency musicians, Chris Brashear and Peter McLaughlin, for a truly unique musical river experience. The scenic Lower San Juan River provides the perfect combination of relaxing water along with several class II rapids for some excitement. During the day, float through the magnificent Goosenecks, hike in side canyons while watching for desert bighorn sheep along the way. Spend the evenings beneath the stars enjoying music by two premiere western songwriters while reflecting on the day’s journey.
We will meet at the Museum of Northern Arizona on Wednesday, May 20 at 7:00 am for a brief trip orientation, departing by 7:30 am for Mexican Hat, Utah. We begin our river adventure on Wednesday morning, returning to MNA by 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 23.
*Optional pre-trip dinner on Tuesday, May 19 in Flagstaff
Cost Includes:
- Meals from lunch on Wednesday, May 20 through lunch on Saturday, May 23
- Transportation to and from MNA to Mexican Hat, Utah
- All permits, guides, boats, river equipment and waterproof bags
What to Expect:
We will be traveling in a 12 passenger van, our trip beginning and ending in Flagstaff. Elevation on the San Juan River is about 4000 feet. Participants should be comfortable riding in a boat for much of each day along with some hiking. You will be asked to provide your health history and information at the time of registration.
