Pick & Holler plays music from America’s past, keeping alive the sounds that have brought people together for centuries. We draw deep from the old time string band tradition, Appalachian fiddle and banjo tunes, but aren’t scared of the Mother Maybelle blues or some Hank Williams heartbreak. We also throw in a few old timey originals to keep the tradition of storytelling through song alive. Fairs and festivals to barns and boxcars, high energy old time music to keep the feet moving and the faces smiling!
Pick & Holler began as a duo, with Carolyn Camp on fiddle and Matt Minjares on banjo, playing out on the dry, dusty streets of Phoenix, Arizona. Lindsay Cates was hijacked from her role playing electric bass in several other bands and was added in on upright bass. Ty Peterson was kind enough to squeeze us into his busy schedule as a music teacher and joined in on guitar and fiddle.
Pick & Holler has been going strong ever since, playing a wide variety of events and venues, including street fairs, farmer’s markets, bars, restaurants, wild west towns, weddings, retirement homes, street corners, festivals, front porches and dances.
Join us for a rollicking Old Time Yee- Haw Get-Down concert, and Cool to be Square Dance to follow. All levels. Bring your boyfriend or girlfriend, bring your kids, bring your granny and have some old fashioned kick up your heels fun.
