Living Traditions Presentations and the Flagstaff Arts Council present Daimh in concert on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The concert will be held at the Coconino Center for the Arts. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Daimh is known as a Gaelic supergroup and as un-challenged champions of straight in the eye Highland music. Daimh are based around West Lochaber and the Isle of Skye and take their name from the Gaelic word for “kinship”. Daimh (pronounced Dive) have taken their contemporary Highland and Gaelic music to over 20 countries, delighting audiences from Moscow to San Francisco. With a reputation as giants of the Bagpipes and Fiddle, Angus Mackenzie and Gabe McVarish lead the melodic powerhouse with fellow founder member Ross Martin underpinning the groove on the Guitar. The Band are joined by Murdo “Yogi” Cameron on Mandola and Accordion to complete the instrumental line up.
Recent accolades include last year’s award for the “Best Folk Band in Europe” at the prestigious Folkherbst competition in Germany and most recently winner of “Folk Band of the Year” at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards.
Daimh will perform in concert at the Coconino Center for the Arts on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 7:00pm. Doors will open at 6:30pm. Tickets for this concert are $25 in advance and $30 day of the show.
