tom-board Tom Agostino, local arts organizer to direct Arizona Music Organization

Dennis Houser, President of the Board for Chaparral Arts has announced that Tom Agostino, Prescott music promoter and long time arts organizer, has agreed to become Executive Director of Chaparral Arts in advance of its 2014 Season and its ninth Chaparral MusicFest coming this Summer. “I’ve been a Board member for Chaparral Arts these last two years,” Agostino says, “and I feel this is how I can best serve the organization. The marketing and production skills I’ve developed over a long career should help in realizing the incredible musical vision of Chaparral’s Artistic Director, Maria Flurry.”

Tom Agostino has a unique and colorful history in the Special Events and Non-Profit fields. During his seventeen years living in Los Angeles, he co-produced the 70-member “The Imperial Bells of China” Tour, the largest group of Chinese artists to ever tour the US and Canada, twice. He founded The LA Circus, an award-winning one-ring community circus sponsored by the City of Los Angeles. Tom also worked on several of the largest Music Festivals of the 90s, including the Amnesty Int’l World Tour w/ Peter Gabriel, Sting and Bruce Springsteen, Fiesta Broadway, and the US Festival. As Tom says, “After running a circus for two years, there’s not much that can surprise me when it comes to Special Events. If you can deal with a dozen clowns and an elephant on a daily basis, everything else is a piece of cake.” Ten years ago, when Tom moved to Prescott, he started the Folk Sessions Radio Show, still broadcasting on the KJAZZ Radio Network, which soon led to the Folk Sessions Concert Series and special event productions. Tom also works with several local non-profit organizations, including Prescott Area Shelter Services, People Who Care, Prescott Good Governance, and Granite Peak Arts.

Since 2007 Chaparral Arts has presented the Chaparral MusicFest a stellar Summer program of concerts, youth academies, workshops, master classes and live showcases, bringing exceptional musicians from Arizona and across the country to “mix it up” with local musicians in Prescott. Add exceptional audience care, and you have a recipe for a unique series of concerts and educational experiences that delight and benefit the entire community.
